I'm pretty far into a project that has stripes. I started the back with the white stripe (this is my cast on row) pattern, and ended with the white stripe (this is my bind off row). Now that i'm into the fronts, I have run out of the white I need, and can't find anymore. I could actually finish the project if I could only come up with enough white yarn to knit 2 rows. So, I figure it will be easy enough to remove the bind off row, and use that yarn.

Question is, is there any way to remove (rip-out) the cast on row, without ripping out the whole project?

Hi! I have been "volunteered" to teach a very bright 10 year
old to knit. I have been knitting since I was 5 (50 years ago -
Yikes!) and I started out with Barbie clothes. I have no kids of my
own and have only taught adults so I need HELP!

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can have this lovely child
start on? The best part of this is that I live in NJ and she lives in
VA so this will be a long distance tutoring; I will be there one week
to get her started.

If you know of any books or projects where she would see progress
quickly I would appreciate it. OR if anyone knows of any really good
yarn stores in the Alexandria VA area who are patient enough to work
with kids I would appreciate the names so after I start she would have
somewhere to go for help.

I need this info before 11/5/09, if possible. TX!

I don't know about you all, but I LOVE getting new yarn and can't wait to do a small swatch to see how it's going to look. I'll do a very small swatch -perhaps 15 stitches and 20 rows, then bind off and stash it until I have the time to plan a garment. The problem is -- I could never remember what size needle I used for the swatch! I don't always use the size recommended.

Problem solved! When I bind off, I knit 2 together where needed to end up with the same number of bind offs as the size of the needles used. Then, when I pull it out to actually start knitting, I can see what size needles were used. Perhaps others have tried this, but it really works well -- unless you do a 4" swatch with size 4 needles!
