Hi I'm Linda

I love to make more unusual things..... my daughter is involved in trying to save a 1930's lido, and they recently had an open day to raise awareness of the project and I knitted a 1930's swimsuit for the exhibition, which caused a lot of hilarity! Cant believe people wore those.

Last ear I made a Mr Bean bear for my daughter ( shes 22!). This year my 18 year old son wants a Harry Hill knitted character, but I cant find a pattern anywhere. So frustrating!

I'm looking forward to enjoying this site, and have already spotted some nice glove patterns....

Hi everybody, I'm new to knitting but I love it. I have knitted some baby blankets and throws just using the basic knit stitch. This week I knitted some dishcloths. It's ridiculous how accomplished I feel by just having learned to also purl, YO, and knit2! Imagine how I will feel if I ever learn to really knit something. I'm doing a hat now...hope it comes out ok. This new hobby really helps me relax...after a long day at the hospital (i'm a nurse), I really needed it! I look forward to keeping up with things with "knitting daily". Nice to meetcha! Trisha

Hello to all I have been a knitter for most of my life and was taught by my grandmother. I love looking at wool and knitting patterns. I live off the grid and have two dogs and three horses. I spend my summers working in the garden and riding my horses. Winter time is for TV and knitting. I hope to find some great patterns as I just got lots of wool for my b-day.

This one will be perfect for my new Winter hat. Happily, it isn't very cold yet here in NYC so I have time to finish the Hannukah and Christmas gifts I started last Summer.

I've written to Knitting Daily before but usually in frustration about downloading issues. But now I have my new Apple Macbook and NO problems downloading my exciting Knitting Daily favorite patterns. I love browsing the Interweave Knits magazines, but I don't want to cut them up so I love to have some of the patterns available thru download.

Back to Katie Himmelberg. I read the comment in the pattern that Katie enjoys knitting while watching movies on TV at night. Well, so do I !! In fact that's the only time I knit these days. I find I'm busier now that I'm semi-retired than I ever was while working full time and raising my nephew. I'll bet there are many other knitters who also only knit at night, watching movies. I find I have to make pattern changes during the commercials though and I now use a stitch counter, or two or three. But I just gotta knit. My husband goes to bed earlier than I so it all works out.

BTW, I'm looking for the spool to make my I-cords. Remember, when we were kids starting to knit? My mother gave me a wooden spool with four of what looked like heavy-duty staples nailed into it. It had a large center hole that the I-cord dropped through when it was knit. I would wrap two rounds of yarn around the staples at the beginning of the I-cord and then pull the lower one over the upper one to form the stitch; then one would drop off the staple into the hole in the middle. As each dropped off, I would add another wrap and so it went. It was great and made I-cord much easier. I could take it on the subway when we went to Brooklyn to visit Grandma and never drop a stitch. Some would say that is not knitting, but to me it was a great, fast way to do I-cords. Anyone know where I can get one these days or will I have to make one myself?

Need to find a pattern

Hi - I'm knitter with lots of patterns for "hip" patterns for hats, scarves, etc. But, I've been looking for a very basic men's hat and scarf pattern. We have a gentleman who does our yard work for us now that we're getting older -- he's homeless and very proud of the work that he does for us. I had a friend who referred me to a Maritime pattern for a hat and scarf but I can't find it on-line - and she's on vacation! I'd like to be able to knit up something for him as a holiday gift. Any suggestions? Nothing fancy - we are in the Sacramento area - doesn't get much below 35 degrees. I have tons of yarn but can't find the "right" pattern.

Hi there, I have just picked up my knitting needles again after a few years cross-stitching and I'm really enjoying knitting again.

I started easy and made a beret (it's getting chilly here now!) and now I'm knitting 3 more for friends.

A handbag is next on my list but after seeing the knitting bag pattern I think that is now top of the list.

Arizona Knitting

I am Liz from Arizona and have been knitting for as long as I can remember. My mother's aunts from Switzerland would visit us and it must have been one of them that sat me down and put needles in my hands. I still have a pair that came from my grandmother. I love to do needlepoint and I have designed many items - mostly Christmas stockings.

On a vacation to Oregon, I saw a woman knitting the most amazing Christmas stockings. This little coastal village, Yachats, had a Monday Night knitting group at the library. I sat next to the woman with the stocking and just observed. After returning home I spent time on the internet trying to find the yarn. In AZ there is not a great selection of wool but was able to find the wool in shops in Oregon, Colorado, and Utah.

The next year on vacation I took my yarn and needles and looked up the woman, She was kind enough to give me the pattern and to start me out on my first stocking. Reading the charts was easy as it was just like doing needlepoint from a chart. I finished the Christmas stocking for my grandson, Jack last year. It was his first Christmas.

I have put aside my other needlework and have picked up the needles again - even starting a knitting group that meets at my house once a month. I have spent time on the internet looking at knitting blogs and have read so many amazing stories and have seen so many amazing finished projects. I have checked out so many knitting books from our library as well. My fingers are itching to start.

I have loved the knitting daily email that comes and wish that our cable company would have the television program.

Thanks to all of you who post and share your ideas and projects. They are all food for thought.

I am a person whose mother was always knitting, crocheting, sewing or baking something! I love to look and read knitting books--the patterns are so interesting. I find that I dont often finish a project because it takes so long to knit it. I have just looked at and read through some of Helen M. 's book about Icelandic Rose Patterns. In there was the story about knitted inserts. These are lovely and I need to make some for my winter boots. But there was no patterns in the book as to how to make these inserts. I have looked on the web for inserts and insoles but have found no patterns for them. Help! Does anyone have a pattern? where can I find one?

Everyone - anyone want to chat about knitting or crochet patterns?? I am married two grown married sons and have three lovely grandchildren to knit for now. Knitting an Aran cabled cardigan from one of the free patterns from knitting daily and it is turning out really good. So pleased and impressed. Knitting a scarf for the winter creeping in. Plus a shawl from one of the free patterns. I have two dogs, 1 cat and a couple of tanks of tropical fish. Anyhow, if anyone like to chat or say hi about they are knitting or knitted - be really pleased to help from you.
