I couldn't do that -- I would have to rip out and start over. When I knit socks, I knit them both at the same time so they will have the same tension. Inevitably, I end up starting over ( early on) a couple times per sock. The finished product makes it worth it (to me). The first time I knit a pair of socks, each one (of 4) came out progressively

Not sure what part you don't understand. Maybe you are trying too hard. Sometimes you have to blindly follow each instruction without trying to understand how it all works. (through Knitty) I found great instructions for putting the bead on the stitch before you work it. Until I saw this blog, I never attempted knitting with beads -- because I've never understood the instructions that have you string the beads ahead of time. No, you aren't the only one -- lots of people can't "see" the charts. People see things differently, and relate differently to graphics vs text. Personally, I find it easier to follow the graphic visuals. Whenever there are written instructions, I lose my place and end up re-reading over and over. Also, it takes me longer to memorize
