  • Re: Creating knitting chart patterns

Yes! Google "Knitting Font" and several free ones will come up. I use the set from Aire River Design in my Excel charts. The trick for downloading these fonts (for me at least) was finding the right folder on my computer where my other fonts are stored. That way the knitting fonts will come up automatically as a font option in your Excel.

  • Re: button band for fair isle cardigan

Congratulations on your first fair isle sweater! They are addicting aren't they? Are you looking for something different than the usual ribbed edging? What edging did you use on the cuffs and bottom? That would help to think about what to do for the button band. I love the look of the loops with buttons, but am wondering if they may be too fragile

  • Re: felting without a machine...

Wow Katie! That is a great idea! I'm finishing up knitting a little felted project and don't always have access to a machine. Your ziplock bag idea sounds like the perfect solution. One time I tried to do it by hand - literally - with my hands and ended up with blisters! Thanks for sharing, Terry

As CeliaC said: "So the moral to the story is, when the time is right, the project will present itself again. " I have found this to be so true! What was once boring, is now "comfortable" or soothing because I need a break. I LOVE to start new projects - I love the math and planning of new designs - I get sorrowful upon completion

  • Re: Rouge or Central Park?

Most rows (or rounds) in cable patterns are just simple knits and purls. It's only the round where you make the twist that is fiddly so you should be fine with either pattern. Just go for it! Pick on - or do BOTH! (I'm a multi-project enabler). Terry

  • Re: what do you like to do?

It's rough, but somebodys got to do it. Thank goodness for internet so I can keep up with all the knitting news whenever we're near a WiFi signal. Good idea to keep the adorable husband, dog, and cats and the job with a subject you actually like. Those are all important to being happy. I've often said I would live anywhere as long as I had

  • Re: what do you like to do?

"...away from the yarn and needles..".? Oh, there's always a little knitting project tucked into my bag. You never know when you have to wait in line, traffic lights, whatever. Other than knitting, I explore wherever I am that day. As I live on a sailboat and cruise along the coast of mainland Mexico and Baja California, I'm in new
