I've finished the sleeves on my Farmer's Market Cardigan . (Hooray!) That means I'm ready to sew them into the body of the cardigan, a job that some knitters detest. C'mon, admit it–how many of you knit only top-down raglans so you won't have to sew in a sleeve? And how many...

I've long been a fan of Lucinda Guy's designs, especially her patterns for children, and I've just finished looking at an advance copy of her new book of grown-up designs, Northern Knits ; it's fabulous! Lucinda focuses on the diversity of knitting in the northern European countries of...

A Note from Kathleen: Between my mom and me, we have quite a collection of textiles. There are the many, many monogrammed handkerchiefs, one of which is framed and displayed proudly in what I like to call "the hall of relatives past," which is full of memorabilia and black and white photographs...

Bonjour Lovelies! Today J’Adore Furoshiki (Wonderful Japanese Eco-Friendly Wrapping) Having stumbled across this (I love how the French say par hazard to denote discovering something by chance), as I was preparing my Etsy storefront, it was just too good not to share, and I immediately began thinking...

I joined both the Knitting Olympics and the Ravelympics this year. I set my Olympic goals: To finish the Farmer's Market Cardigan . To knit a sock. To spin some luscious fibre. I made a schedule. I organized each knitting project in a pretty box. At the opening ceremonies, I jumped in with both needles...

A note from Kathleen: It's time for our Sweater Workshop from the Spring 2010 issue of Interweave Knits . Eunny's here to take us through Tram Nguyen's Betty's Tee, a deceptively simple little blouse that's versatile and flattering. Take it away, Eunny! Betty's Tee: An Adventure...

I am 1/2 way on the Chuppah. I won't be working on it for a while because I have to go get more yarn, so there won't be another picture for a while. It is nice because you can really start to see the design. This is 1/4 of the chuppah.

I love this quote about knitting from our new eBook series, Weldon's Practical Knitting : "It does not distract the attention or check the powers of the imagination. It forms a ready resource when a vacuity occurs in conversation; it impairs neither body nor mind, and requires no straining of...

This is the bag that started it all. I first saw it on Etsy.com in LittleProjects store and wanted to buy the bag. Then I find out it's only a pattern. So I set out to teach myself how to knit during hockey season and after 12 or so scarves, think I'm ready. Then I order the pattern and READ...

I'll admit: I truly love seaming my sweaters. (Does this make me a freak?) I actually enjoy the finishing steps of a big knitting project. I've been happily sewing up the pockets on my Farmer's Market Cardigan , and am looking forward to seaming the sleeves when I finally finish them. And...

I entered these socks in a local county fair and won first prize AND Superintendent's Choice award! These were my first patterned socks and I really enjoyed making them. Not sure what type of yarn this is, it was rescued from a thrift store (and was wrapper-less). An odd color, but my daughter loves...

This pattern is from 25 bags to knit by Emma King, Published by Trafalgar Square, on page 38. It is knitted with beads. I made it from some acrylic yarn someone gave me. I don't know what kind of yarn it was other than knitting worsted (about 4 medium weight).

Bloomin It is spring time so I have a bit of spring fever. I can't wait to be able to wear great spring dresses and flip flops. This scarf is inspired by my desire to find great summer yarns and compliment them with nature inspired designs. This scarf is a lace pattern that I have included both the...
