Like to knit, bake bread, learn new handicrafts, collect old cookbooks, and read everything from horror novels to vet diaries. I also like to contemplate the mysteries of the world (I'm a sucker for stories about Bigfoot, Nessie, mysterious vanishing villages, etc.). I don't believe I will ever experience a second childhood because I've never really outgrown my first and it's getting late in the day.
Before retiring: first degree black belt in Tang Soo Do/Tae Kwon Do, several years of Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Worked first for many years as small publishing company writer and managing editor, then freelance and corporate database designer, and finally, database and information manager for large, international company.
After retiring: attempting to homestead in north Texas where I work as a farm hand, housecleaner (would be fired if I was paid for it), and cook, feeding and watering our two Jersey cows, our chickens, my husband and youngest son. We garden (son tills, husband weeds, and I harvest and cook) vegetables and a few fruits.
Family: married to my other half for about 40 years now. We have two sons. The oldest is married with two grown step-children. The youngest stayed home with me during a serious illness and now helps take care of farm and all of us. He successfully completed Fire Academy, passing all his tests with high grades and has been a volunteer fireman here.
Pets: we have a male Great Pyrenees. He is huge, slobbery, loud and sweet. We lost our little female cat of 17 years (no typo - she was really, really old) last year.
